Back in June 2015 in New York City, a lone silk pillowcase got lost in a hotel’s laundry round. From that moment, a world-famous beauty brand was born. We just didn’t know it yet.
When a room service maid accidentally removed SHHH Silk CEO Olivia Carr’s silk pillowcase from her hotel room in New York City, she was devastated. She’d had the same pillowcase forever. She had no idea where to go to replace it.
Turns out, there was nowhere.
So she did what any entrepreneurial person would do: built an internationally-acclaimed beauty brand that offered the world the very finest mulberry silk pillowcases (with a hidden zipper this time) and complimentary sleep products.
Since 2015, SHHH Silk has become the go-to brand for anyone wanting a luxurious night’s sleep. For anyone who wants to wake up in the morning with clearer skin. Better hair. And the natural glow that a good night’s sleep can bring.
We’re super proud that we’ve helped customers in over 65 countries find their beauty sleep, as well as a few celebrities along the way (including Kim Kardashian West, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Tom Brady and wife Gisele Bündchen, but hey, who’s counting?).
Yet we’re not done - not even close. We think that a good night’s sleep shouldn’t be a luxury - it should be a daily ritual. Our bold vision is for a world where everyone can discover the many natural hair and skin beauty benefits that silk can bring.
Back in New York in 2015, what devastated our CEO Olivia most wasn’t her missing pillowcase. It was the sheer number of people she saw sleeping rough on the street. And although she didn’t have the answer at the time, she promised her children that if she were able to grow a company, what she ultimately would want is for it to make a meaningful difference to the lives of those humans sleeping rough on the street, somehow, in some way.
And four years later, we’re beyond excited to announce we’re making that dream a reality.
SHHH SILK has created a world-first: a sleep mask specifically designed for the homeless.
Why a sleep mask, you ask?
Because on average, homeless people sleep only three to four hours per night. This lack of rest has devastating consequences for their lives. It prevents them from being able to lead the lives they want and deserve.
And with your help, we want to change that.
For every SHHH SILK purchase, we’ll donate one of our sleep promoting masks to those in need. No conditions. No minimum spend. Just one life impacted for every purchase.
